With Nestlé USA, you will have a key role in optimizing existing products and developing great tasting new food products. This position will be instrumental in creating better ways to process, package, and deliver new and existing Nestlé products.

As a food technologist with Nestlé USA, you’ll have the unique opportunity to provide insight and development in the area of Food Science and Technology. You will be involved in conducting experiments, designing products as well as commercializing products with a consistent flavor, color and texture in our production facilities. Additional responsibilities include: research into new food sources & ingredients, ensure proper safety and sanitation standards are being met, building relationships with suppliers and customers, as well as ensuring products are profitable. This position will also be able to contribute and grow with Nestlé USA by establishing and implementing best practices in area of Food Science and help to influence change and development of our knowledge base.

Duties & Key Responsibilities:

·         Develop new products, line extensions and improve existing products by managing product development activity from concept through commercialization to meet project objectives and timelines

·         Formulate recipes and perform test work to optimize product design for new products, line extensions and existing products

·         Maintain and evaluate accurate and appropriate documentation to support costing, labeling, scale up and production of new and existing products

·         Work closely with manufacturing, purchasing, quality assurance, marketing in a team environment to develop and launch new and improved formulas

·         Develop solutions to a wide range of formula, processing , efficiency problems

·         Manage project teams for alternate supplier projects, line extensions and new product development of moderate complexity. Maintain technical/culinary skills and personal improvement through completion of appropriate training.


Basic Qualifications


· Strong formulation skills and understanding of food systems

· Solid organizational skills & ability to manage multiple projects and assignments

· Strong understanding of the relationship of processing equipment and formulation

· Current understanding of financial costing analysis methodology and strategy

· Extensive knowledge of ingredient functionality, frozen food processing and microwavable foods is a plus

· Ability to work in a fast paced and high performing environment

· Good understanding of sensory testing and statistics, is a plus

· Strong communication skills: interpersonal, presentation, oral and written

· Highly motivated, critical thinker, goal oriented and easily adapts to change

· Requires a high degree of integrity, maturity and honesty

· A passion for food


Computer Skills: Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Power Point, Word, Access and email


Minimum of BS degree in Food Science or related field preferred

Bachelor or Masters Degree in science related field with experience developing products in food industry would be considered

Additional Requirements:

Position requires approximately up to 35% travel
