Palmer Group represents a well-known and very well respected
Des Moines area manufacturing client in their search for three Food
Technologists. Our client has been one of the most recognized and top selling
names in their industry for over half of a century.
We are recruiting for Food Technologists in the following
- Research & Development - working in cross-functional
teams to create added value for the food processing industry through the
design of safe, user-friendly equipment by converting existing
product/process knowledge into advanced equipment solutions.
- Customer Service - training the organization
and customers on how to get the most value from our latest designs while
expanding the equipment's operation through testing and feedback.
- Sales- developing a customer's 'WOW'
experience by demonstrating how our equipment fits into their processes
to create tangible value throughout the sales process from introduction
- The Food Technologist is
closely involved in new developments of processes and systems regarding
our client's equipment. Through working in the field, this position must
stay in touch with changes in the market and customer wishes and be able
to translate that into practical developments.
- Learn all of the equipment
systems, how to run them, and the science behind them.
- Assist, and eventually on own,
plan, set up and perform demos and food sampling for customers in the
test center and at customer locations as needed.
- Communicate well with
customers. Keep them apprised of changes to the production process.
Assist and train customers regarding the equipment, and troubleshoot the
- Collects and maintains test
- Write customer demo reports
- Domestic and international
travel is required - up to and sometimes exceeding 50%.
- 4 year degree in Food Science,
Meat Science, Animal Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering or
- Average level of knowledge of
food technology, and affinity with and knowledge of meat technology,
process technology and the process administration system HACCP.
- Knowledge of and experience
with meat recipes. Insight and feel for the interactions between
different consumables and technological processes (extrusion, brining,
frying, smoking, etc.)
- Strong analytical skills and
attention to detail with a slant for the creative
- Good organizational skills.
Motivated, outgoing, self-starter. Able to follow through on duties and
assignments with minimal supervision.
- Excellent time management
skills, the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
