Under the direction of the Quality Manager, this position is responsible for the day-to-day sanitation and food safety needs of the plant. Incumbent will have responsibility to develop, validate, implement, and maintain the plant sanitation program to ensure all products are manufactured in a sanitary environment. Additional responsibilities include the execution of the Integrated Pest Management Program (IPM) to support a pest-free environment, coordination and management of plant Sanitation/GMP/Regulatory inspections, and audit program. Candidate must be able to identify potential sources and develop actions plans to eliminate possible contamination. The candidate will coordinate the training and development of all plant employees in the areas of sanitation, GMPís, quality and SQF based initiatives utilizing computer based training (CBT) systems. The candidate will assist in directing the quality lab and the Infrastructure/Sanitation Technicians to support plant food safety and food quality programs. Facilitate plantís HACCP and SQF initiatives and verification. The candidate must be SQF and HACCP certified or gain certification within 6 months of hire.

Job duties include:

  • Development and execution of sanitation program includes the plant environment (internal/external) as well as the processing and supporting equipment. The program must have validated SSOPís for all sanitation needs.
  • Effective/efficient cleaning frequency is managed through a Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Must have background knowledge and training in the field of microbiology and database management.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain plant allergen control programs
  • Coordinate internal GMP inspections/audit program. Develop, implement, and maintain an effective plant self inspection program, coaching cross functional teams to identify and resolve food safety issues across the plant.
  • Responsible for daily maintenance and auditing of plant-wide document control (Master Control).
  • Maintain the LIMS system (quality lab documentation).
  • Champion and maintain the Foreign Material Control Program.
  • Serves as back-up for the Quality Manager and Production Supervisor.
  • Other responsibilities as required or assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Food Science, Bio-engineering, or related field preferred
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience in manufacturing environment
  • Strong verbal, written, and analytical skills
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to lead and coach in High Performance Work System environment
  • Preferred Bilingual
