As a Food Safety Specialist you will serve in the Food Protection Program and manage the Food Safety operations of the military services' commercial food source sanitary inspection program. Approve all commercial facilities providing subsistence to DOD agencies and activities worldwide. Develop new or revised policies and procedures and functions to ensure effective and uniform compliance with DOD, DA, regulations and policies, and other federal regulations. Address food safety issues and identify potential public health risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and procedures. Implement approved changes in the DOD commercial food source sanitary audit program. Conduct initial investigations and prepare Congressional replies to inquiries concerning commercial sanitary audits. Assign work and advise personnel of performance. Assist in the development, review, staffing, and implementation of policy and procedures related to food safety.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In order to qualify for this position, candidates must show in their resume that they have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal Service that provided each of the following:
(1) Indepth experience working with food chemistry and microbiology to include technical and regulatory aspects of food processing, procurement, receipt, storage, preparation, and sanitation.
(2) Knowledge of food safety procedures sufficient to assess, develop and implement a variety of program initiatives designed to support a large-scale organization.
(3) Experience conducting commercial food and bottled water audits or inspections.
(4) Experience providing executive-level advisory services to management regarding the execution and modification of food safety programs.
