Faculty Position in Food Science & Food Engineering
Department of Food & Nutrition
College of Education, Health & Human Sciences

We are seeking a dynamic, creative individual experienced in food engineering and food packaging to assist us with the implementation of innovative food science and food packaging programs.

Screening Begins: December 11, 2009 and screening will continue until position is filled.

Starting Date: January 25, 2010

Salary and Rank: Competitive and dependent upon academic preparation and professional experience

Responsibilities: Effective teaching of undergraduate and graduate food science and engineering courses. Courses may include, but not be limited to: food engineering and processing, food quality, food packaging, food product development, and food technology. Establish a research program with food industry and educational partners. Additional responsibilities include thesis supervision, academic advisement, and professional service.

Qualifications: Requirements are: an earned doctorate in food science-related discipline from an accredited degree-granting institution with an emphasis in food engineering; university teaching experience in food science/food engineering and food packaging; research or grantsmanship experience and membership in a related national professional organization. Student mentoring and experience in building partnerships with industry preferred. Leadership in professional organization preferred.

Department: The Department of Food and Nutrition is responsible for administering the undergraduate program in Food Technology as well as a graduate program in Food and Nutritional Sciences. Equipment housed in department includes: Temperature & Humidity Chamber, Varian Saturn 2100T GCMS, ASE 200 Accelerated Solvent Extractor, and a Single Screw Extruder. The department also administers a program in Dietetics and a dietetic internship. The Evelyn Van Donk Steenbock Endowed Chair and the Center for Nutrition Education are housed in the Department of Food and Nutrition.
