Manager, Sanitation and Pest Control – Griffith Laboratories

Griffith Laboratories is a global manufacturer of food products.  We provide a wide range of taste and texture components for food industry customers throughout the world.  Our products include seasoning blends, dry mixes, coating systems, dough blends, crumbs, flavors, sauces and food bases that are used in an extensive variety of applications from snack foods and processed meat and poultry to ready meals.  Our customers are food processors, restaurant operators and grocery retailers.  While our name may not be familiar to consumers, our products are key components of foods offered by many of the world’s best-known companies.

 

The primary purpose of this position is to manage the Sanitation and Pest Control programs.  The incumbent will evaluate plant cleanliness and prioritize resources to maintain a safe environment for the production of food.  Contributes experience and scientific knowledge to serve as local expert for sanitation, cleaning and pest control functions.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Overviews the Master Sanitation Schedule and reviews the completed activities identifying priorities and new assignments.
  • Overviews the Pest control program and verifies it is effective to avoid contamination issues at the warehouse and infestations in finished products.
  • Prepares trends of pest activity to proactively react to any potential increase.
  • Investigates customer complaints regarding  infestation issues.
  • Contributes experience and scientific knowledge in the sanitation and pest control areas.
  • Writes detailed and accurate reports for projects.
  • Participates in evaluation of new equipment from a sanitation point of view.
  • Investigates any pest sightings at the plant.
  • Serves as technical liasison for sanitaiton and pest control inquiries.
  • Visits suppliers and raw material warehouses to perform sanitation/GMP audit.
  • Assists in customer, regulatory, and third party audits in the areas of sanitation and pest control.
  • Assist in investigation and satisfactory disposition of internal issues, customer complaints and audit findings.
  • Summarizes and present statistical analysis to validate new or proposed changes to sanitation schedules.
  • Works with other Griffith plants to standardize procedures and cleaning methods.
  • Coordinates all cleaning and fumigation activities needed to be conducted by outside contractors due to special safety permits.
  • Reviews regularly swab reports from the Microbiologist regarding plant cleanliness levels to react to trends.
  • Writes detailed and accurate reports for projects
  • Other duties as assigned

 

SCOPE:  Authority for purchases under $2,000 – Responsible for Sanitation Department Budget +1MM; Direct supervision for Sanitation Department:  10 hourly employees plus temporary employees; Management of contractors

 

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:  Requires a minimum of a 2 year degree in chemistry, biology or food science; At least 2 years of Sanitation experience in a food manufacturing facility; Proficient knowledge of sanitation; Pest Control license
