The Quality Manager – Food Safety will manage the compliance with standards in policy, process, and specifications for assurance of all food safety regulatory standards (including FDA, USDA, State and Local), as well as the food safety requirements of specific customer relationships. This role is responsible for the parts of our Quality Management System that ensures continuous improvement to satisfy Food Safety requirements utilizing GFSI guidelines, and supports our leadership in the specialty beverage industry.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Shall manage the Food Safety resources (Multi-Site SQF Practitioner and Internal Auditor).

Collaborate with the manufacturing sites and provide leadership for the development, implementation, verification and validation and continual improvement of our Food Safety systems, HACCP Programs and Food Defense Plans utilizing the guidelines of GFSI and SQF Certification and the FDA.

Act as the subject-matter resource for the relationship with the FDA and other regulatory entities.

Collaborate with colleagues in Quality Systems, and Materials & Suppliers Quality functions to continually improve our capacity and capability to ensure product meets specifications, process control yields, scrap reduction and commercialization efficiency without compromising food safety.

With the sites’ SQF Practitioners, develop and manage the necessary knowledge, proficiency and best-practice adherence to standards to support SQF compliance. Host 2nd party and 3rd party food safety audits, in collaboration with Plant QA staff.

Influence the performance of the Plant Quality Assurance teams toward adherence to Food Safety standards, compliance with requirements, and support continual improvement.

Provide auditor resources to the Multi-Site Internal Quality Audit Teams as well as conduct food safety audits of manufacturing sites. Report to Management on status and progress of Plant compliance to standards.

Take a lead role in the Stock Recovery and Recall processes, including Traceability and any Food Registry events.

Functionally collaborate with the Quality Systems specialists assigned to the product category teams to ensure strong bilateral communication and consideration of food safety standards in portfolio management and innovation.

Champion the education and training of personnel on Food Safety Management System practices and standards.

Support the Customer Complaint system by providing subject matter expertise to issue resolution for claims of a food safety nature.

Properly hire, train, motivate and evaluate staff. Ensure highest levels of performance are met. Provides leadership to the Food Safety Teams and partnership cross-functionally.

Effectively communicate across the organization with all executive levels and operational management to ensure the quality organization is meeting the goals and objectives of the SCBU.


BA, BS in a relevant discipline

Minimum of 7 years of a progression of quality management responsibilities and leadership in a complex multi-site food manufacturing environment.

Demonstrated strong abilities in the areas of: Corporate Social Responsibility, Quality Management Systems and applications (ISO 9001, Lean, Six Sigma, GFSI, etc.), food regulatory and microbiology.

Demonstrated Project Management experience as Project Leader and cross-functional team participant.

Demonstrated skill to persuade/influence directly and indirectly-both internally and externally to the function.

Advanced analytical and problem solving training & skills

High interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.

Advanced facilitation and communication skills.

Experience with PeopleSoft or similar ERP systems

Ability to uphold Safety standards, participate in Continuous Process Improvement on the job, and follow our Manufacturing best practices.

Ability to get along with others, be punctual, and follow instructions.

Ability to follow GMCR policies and procedures as well as our Operating principles.

Predominately sedentary light office position with high frequency of keyboarding/computer work required (67% - 100% of the workday).
