JOB TITLE: QA Manager DEPARTMENT: Quality Assurance
FLSA STATUS: Exempt REPORTS TO: VP of QA/R&D
Responsible for managing Quality Department personnel and programs. Direct responsibility for Interaction with USDA and other regulatory agencies, SPC, HACCP, GMPs, quality program training, customer liason. QA responsible for monitoring manufacturing process, cleanliness, refrigeration, warehouse and maintenance. Collaborates closely with the Managers. of Maintenance, Manufacturing, Marketing, R&D and Administration.
Addressing non-conformities from previous internal and external audits.
Conducting a Management Review of the Quality System.
Following-up on and closing pending Preventive and Corrective Action Requests.
Ensuring that organizational systems and training are in place.
Preparing organization for USDA and other audits
Ensuring that documentation and design controls are appropriate for organization and shift.
Administering document control and configuration management system.
Overseeing established calibration and testing program.
Assisting the management team and provide QA support as necessary.
Maintaining Design History File.
Interact with Purchasing, Logistics, and Production internally, and vendors externally to ensure quality raw materials and gold standard of outgoing completed product.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelors Degree in Food Science or a related technical field, or equivalent.
5 - 7 years of work experience in Quality Assurance, should be combined with a demonstrated track-record of accomplishments as a Quality Assurance Manager, and with satisfying customers in technology-driven, developing companies. Only experience in Food Manufacturing will be considered.
Experience with USDA and international Quality System rules, regulations, including planning and implementation is very important.
Oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and superior organizational abilities.
Ability to take initiative, to maintain confidentiality, to meet deadlines, and to work in a team environment essential.
PC-based computing expertise (word processing-Word, spreadsheet-Excel, presentation- PowerPoint, documentation s/w) essential.
Must be able to work in production environment, including wet conditions, heated conditions, refrigeration and freezer conditions. Must be able to use eyesight for determining quality conditions.
