We are currently seeking a food technologist at Armour Eckrich a subsidiary of the John Morrell Food group, and a part of the Smithfield Foods family to be part of a growing team working on new product innovation and commercialization. The new food technologist will assist in developing new products and line extensions from bench top through commercialization. This position works with cross functional teams on projects to provide product development support. Must have an understanding of USDA/FDA regulations and have hands on experience working on project teams. This role will perform pilot tests with the plants to generate product prototypes and provide progress reports on the status of projects. The ideal candidate will experience working with cross functional teams and providing product development support to major company initiatives. Candidates should have a BS in Food Science or related field plus a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experiences in the meat industry (strongly preferred), and an MS is Meat/Food Science. Should possess the ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment. Should possess strong scientific knowledge of meat, non-meat ingredients and their functionality. The successful candidate needs to have the ability to work with pilot plant equipment with minimal supervision. Should be a quick learner with strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Must be proficient with online work systems and product development software tools. This position requires travel up to 40%.
