Job Summary - Food Technologist

We are searching for an experienced meat scientist to work within our Research and Development team. This position will be responsible for the creation of food samples with a consistent flavor, color, texture and appeal according to customer specifications by performing the following duties:

Duties and Responsibilities

Knowledge of plant production processes: - Raw material identification - Processing techniques and standards - Marination calculations and application methods - Packaging and boxing practices - Labeling procedures and requirements - Record keeping requirements for samples

- Knowledge of food processing technology - Communicates quality issues and new product ideas with suppliers and assists in the slection of products from suppliers. - Receives orders from and collaborates with the Director and/or Vice President of Research and Development. - Develops the capability to repeat the process to guarantee consistency and safety. - Proofreads Product Development Details, including checks of the mathematical accuracy of formulas submitted by Product Development Personnel. - Reviews sample requests on a daily basis. - Initiates procurement of raw materials and ingredients pursuant to production of samples. - Supports Quality Assurance Department regarding compliance by gathering and providing MSDS information, product specifications, ingredient statements, nutritional statements and nutritional analyses from vendors. - Determines whether product has met requirements and quality to company and department standards. - Applies statistical methods to plan development work and analyze results, presenting results in print. - Prepares prototypes to prove feasibility of a product concept and to investigate implementation details.

Qualifications - B.S. Degree in Food or Meat Science Technology - At least 3 to 5 years related experience in the Food Manufacturing Industry - Experience working with whole muscle technology
