MANILA, Philippines
-A gathering of government personnel in Zamboanga
del Norte was disrupted after 30 participants fell ill allegedly due to food
poisoning.
A radio report said that the victims were employees from the Department of
Education and the Department of Agrarian Reform attending a four-day
conference at the Dakak Beach.
The conference of the government employees - coming from the respective
regional offices in the regions of Cordillera, Eastern Visayas , and Ilocos – started
Wednesday and was supposed to conclude over the weekend.
However, barely two days into the event, the participants started feeling
stomach pains and vomiting only hours after sharing a dinner buffet on
Thursday.
Victims was rushed to different medical facilities
in cities of Dapitan and Dipolog,
also in Zamboanga del Norte.
As of this posting, a number of the participants had already been discharged
while several more remained confined at the hospitals. - Mark Merueñas, GMANews.TV
