Job Description Firmenich is a leading international company with headquarters in This
position will Function as an encapsulation technology expert for Firmenich R&D (Materials Science). The
successful candidate will support development of new concepts and
technologies and respond to the business needs of the Flavor & Perfumery
Divisions. A substantial portion of this position involves working in a pilot
plant environment. Provide analytical support to Supply Chain Industrialization
(SCIN) Production and Quality Control (QC) for all particulate encapsulation
systems. Responsibilities will include but not limited to: -
Exhibits proficiency in various analytical techniques (physical-chemistry)
and build bridges between techniques -
Supports ongoing research projects in encapsulation with senior scientist -
Scales down some of the existing encapsulation processes: determine the
relationship between formulation and physical properties of products to help
the flavor division formulate with the final application in mind -
Responsible for running two pilot processes for the R&D division, and
communicate results to Supply Chain -
Develops methods & procedures that are practical and workable in a
production environment -
Develops robust QC methods (including selection of
instruments/equipment/materials) and transfers this to the QC group Job Requirements -
Master's degree in Food Science or related field -
2-5 years experience either in an academic environment (preferably in
research labs) or in industry (preferably in R&D) -
Knowledge in rheology -
Motivated to work in a research environment; writing reports, presenting
results and attending scientific conferences as required -
Motivated to work in a production and pilot plant environment; this includes
setting up, running and cleaning equipment -
Project management skills -
Flexible/adaptable and ability to work in a research team as well a
production/pilot plant team -
Rigorous and meticulous working style -
Extensive computer skills -
Proficient in English both in speaking and in writing (French will be a plus)
