Position Summary:

This is an innovative and visionary team. The candidate for this position must be a self-motivated, creative thinker, with strong interpersonal skills. This position is a mid-level position, requiring multiple-project management skills, and ability to accomplish tasks in cooperation with others.


  • 3-5 years’ experience preferably in product development of Food Processing Company.
  • Minimum of B.S. degree in food science or related science.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong planning, organizing, and communication skills. Ability to independently organize and lead cross-disciplinary teams for problem solving, and rapid development of new concepts.
  • Solid technical background including understanding of product formulation techniques, microbiological and sanitation principles, sensory evaluation, shelf-life extension, processing technology, regulatory compliance, NLEA, GMP, HACCP,USDA, Organic and an understanding of plant physiology is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills including Word, Excel (Spreadsheet, data entry, etc.), Math and statistics a plus.
  • Physical ability to conduct plant trials requiring climbing of catwalks and stairs in a refrigerated, wet processing environment.
  • Some travel as required.


Reporting to the R&D Manager, this position is responsible for:

  • Creates new product prototypes and market-ready products, and application of new technologies, processes, and systems.
  • Designs and conducts various tests and analytical procedures related to the development and improvement of new and existing products, including shelf-life testing, sensory evaluation, packaging testing and other evaluation procedures.
  • Makes recommendations to various groups, both internally and externally for product and/or package changes as required.
  • Recording and management of internal data, written and verbal reports, summaries, evaluations, and file management related to the above and other activities.
  • Works in cross functional teams to ensure the success of new and or improvement projects from bench-top through commercialization.
  • Participates in meeting with Marketing Department, which involves program development, brainstorming sessions, timelines and project status updates
  • Works collaboratively with internal and external customers, ingredient suppliers and equipment vendors as dictated by project activity.
  • Supports the sales and marketing efforts, through technical assistance, customer presentations and new product development.
  • Prepares prototype products using research lab, manufacturing facilities and equipment, as required.
  • Ordering and picking up ingredients required from production facilities when necessary.
  • Manage Genesis nutritional program, preparation of ingredient statements and transfer of formulas to costing department.
  • Manage customer spec database and collaborate with customers to provide accurate information for spec and label development.
  • Review Ready Pac and Private Label branded labels, films and carton graphics for regulatory compliance and provide technical feedback.
  • Maintaining adequate inventories of ingredients needed for projects.
  • Supervision and training of R&D Technicians.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for optimal interactions and communications with internal and external customers.
  • Other activities and responsibilities as assigned.

This position responds to the needs of both internal and external customers, including our sales and marketing staff, providing product samples, initial costing, and other technical support as needed.
