Purpose

Research and Execute all aspects of Product Recall actions.  Conduct recall, serious consumer issues and regulatory product trace back requests.  Provide internal (Enterprise) and external (Regulatory) recall and trace back reports and information on a routine basis.  Provide training and backup as directed, for additional recall process coverage.  Contribute to Supply Chain & Fresh Food Safety department project activities as directed.


Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities

 Following training, independently facilitate all actions associated with a recall that impacts the Enterprise or its customers.
 
 Respond as directed, to all product safety and quality issues that pose a risk to our customers or consumers.

 Conduct vendor research to determine enterprise impact for all recall actions.

 Actively monitor regulatory websites for recalls or other actions that may impact our business.
 
 Ensure effective recall communications to enterprise banners and supply chain customers (independents) to reduce consumer, regulatory, legal and enterprise risks.

 Maintain comprehensive recall files (electronic and hard-copy) (legal and follow-ups).


 As directed, prepare period end reports to recap recall activity.

 Interact with Retail Food Safety, Fresh Merchandising and Private Brands teams in the execution of job responsibilities.

 As directed, participate in Supply Chain Food Safety and Fresh merchandising Initiatives & Projects. (Cold Chain, Traceability, Receiving, Regulatory etc.)

 Maintain a high level of sensitivity and sense of urgency related to recalls, regulatory actions and other fresh merchandising projects as directed.

 As directed, perform other related enterprise food safety duties to support department initiatives and objectives.

Job Requirements
 
Relevant Experience, Education, Certification, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
 Previous experience or education in a food safety related area or previous recall experience desired but not required.
 Familiarity with wholesale and retail grocery operations preferred.
 Must work effectively in a team environment and at times with minimal supervision.
 Utilize excellent verbal and written communication skills and effectively interact with internal and external contacts.  
 Must be proficient in multiple “desktop” computer applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, etc. 
 Due to the nature of the position, and once fully trained, some “night and weekend” work will be required to execute urgent recall actions.
 
Physical Environment
 Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
 Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.
 Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment in the course of normal workday.
 Stooping, bending, twisting and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
 Travel required – minimal to zero.
