This position conducts tests with formulation and development of new
products and product lines for both Burke Corporation and potential
customers. Involves testing of new and/or different ingredients, additives,
raw materials, packaging materials, and processing methods for current or
future production use. Must perform computer nutritional analysis.
Prepares product samples for shipment to customers; prepares test products
for in-house review; aids in the study of alternative processing procedures
or equipment; performs laboratory testing of experimental treatments;
collects accurate data during testing of products or processing methods;
performs statistical analysis of experimental treatments; prepares
nutritional information for customers when requested; communicates concepts
and results of tests to customers.
Candidates for this position must have a B.S. degree in Food Science or a
related area. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of
food systems and food safety. The individual must be able to perform
multiple assignments and be available for some evening and weekend work as
required. Candidates must have good communication skills and be able to
analyze information and clearly convey responses and ideas with customers.
Occasional travel may be required, both for R&D and Sales purposes.
