Requirements: PhD from an IFT accredited food science program, or equivalent combination of education of education and experience. Practical experience in product development, preferably combined with experience in basic food related research, is a preferred part of of an individual's preparation for this position.
Duties: Food Scientist is well versed in all phases of the food product development cycle and can work independently to develop a new product from conception through plant scale-up. The Food Scientist has direct supervisory responsibilities for lab professionals and indirect supervisory responsibilities for other members on a team. Instructs and trains in work methods, assigns work, plans and schedules work, checks and approves work, conducts YER's tracks progress for professional development plans and implements corrective counseling or disciplinary actions.
