Shore is currently accepting resumes for a full-time,
tenure-track position (50% research and 50% teaching) in the Food Science
and Technology (FDST) Program.
This program is administered through the Department of Agriculture, Food
and Resources Sciences and is housed in the School of Agricultural
and Natural Sciences.
We are seeking an individual with a background in food chemistry or food
safety or product and process development.
The teaching, research, and outreach efforts of the FDST program focus on
safety and quality of foods important to our region, including poultry,
seafood, produce and small farm animals.
The University of Maryland, Eastern Shore (UMES) is a land-grant,
historically black college founded in 1886 as the Delaware Conference
UMES is located on Marylandís scenic Lower
Eastern Shore, close to ocean beaches and the Chesapeake Bay and two to
three hours from the metropolitan areas of Washington,
Responsibilities: Complement the research, teaching, and outreach efforts
of the Food Science and Technology Ph.D. program through teaching of
graduate courses; supervise graduate studentsí research; participate in
departmental, university and public service; establish and maintain a
strong, externally funded research program either in analytical/chemical
aspects of foods or in the areas of food quality or product and process
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Food Science or related field. A successful record
of scientific publications and extramural funding is desired.
Experience in college teaching, grant writing, and directing graduate
studentsí research desired.
