This position provides dairy science, dairy chemistry
expertise and project management experience to develop new dairy commodities,
improve existing commodities or applying new dairy based ingredients and
processes to frozen prepared meal products.
Responsibilities include:
- Work with PD technologists on projects involving cheese, dairy ingredients,
or dairy based flavors; actively participate in development process; act as
key contact between NPFC and vendors
- Originate, plan and execute scientific test work
- Manage and implement cost savings projects in dairy, including milk,
cheese, and dairy ingredients
- Plan, conduct and evaluate necessary test work to meet timelines
- Partner with Purchasing to define and evaluate areas of cost savings
opportunity
- Develop and present innovative ideas/concepts to PD, Purchasing, and
Marketing
- Develop, test, and coordinate the implementation of process improvements
both in house and at vendors
- Encourage the application of new and improved methodologies where
appropriate; evaluate opportunities of emerging technologies/equipment
- Assist in the development of dairy ingredient specifications
- Bachelors of Science degree in Animal Science, Dairy
Science or Food Science
- Minimum of 5 years experience dairy processing or a combination of 5 years
experience industrial and dairy studies.
- Masters of Science degree in Animal Science, Dairy Science or Food Science
preferred
- Knowledge of dairy science and dairy chemistry
- Expertise in cheese manufacturing/processing to include fermentation,
enzyme reactions, casein hydrolysis, casein precipitation, lipolysis, cheese
emulsification, spray drying
- Working knowledge of dairy ingredient/dairy flavor suppliers and
capabilities
- Able to apply technical dairy ingredient knowledge to prepared meal
formulation
- Experience with food processing equipment and comfortable working in a
production facility
- Excellent project management, leadership, and communication skills
