ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
- Manage the supplier and
co-packer audit and approval process for Windsor Foods to assure
compliance with required food safety and quality standards.† Review required documents (e.g. Food
Safety and Security Inquiry, Letter of Guaranty etc)
from suppliers and co-packers and resolve missing information or
discrepancies in information.
- Assist the FSQA Supplier
Documentation Manager with obtaining, reviewing, and organizing/filing
- Work with Windsor Foods plant
QA to prepare Supplier Corrective Action Response (SCAR) for
non-conforming ingredients and maintain a SCAR summary.† Work with corporate purchasing and
suppliers to correct recurring deficiencies.
- Conduct targeted quality
reviews with problem suppliers to improve quality and consistency of
materials and services provided.
- Update the Food Safety and
Quality Assessment program on an annual or as needed basis to reflect current
industry, regulatory and customer expectations.
- Work with co-packers to
assure that they are approved, have all appropriate specification
documents, provide COAís and that their product is evaluated by the
appropriate Windsor Foods plant location.
- Work with the document center
to resolve discrepancies with ingredient specifications and
supplier/co-packer COA requirements.
- Provide initial response to
customer complaints as requested and forward complaints to appropriate
locations for investigation and final response.
- Coordinate the summarization
of customer and consumer complaints from the Call Center, customers,
plants and sales.† Provide
co-packer complaint data for the monthly KQI report.
- Assemble the combined KQI
report as requested.
- Conduct a facility assessment
for each Windsor Foods plant as requested.† During this assessment conduct a
mock product recall in conjunction with an associated third-party
To perform this job successfully, an individual must
be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements
listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability
required. This individual must be self motivated
as many of the tasks performed will be independent in nature. Decisions will
need to be made without direct oversight.
- A college degree in Food
Science, Meat Science, Microbiology, Biology, Food Technology, or
other science based equivalent is required.†
- A minimum of 5 years of
progressive experience in USDA food manufacturing including at least 3
years in QA/QC is required.†
Frozen food experience is preferred.
- Fluency in English, both
written and verbal, is required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of
HACCP, Environmental Monitoring, Allergen Control, GMPís, Pest Control,
Regulatory (both USDA and FDA) Compliance, Traceability, SSOPís, and
other quality systems and policies is required.
- A good understanding of
principles of microbiology and their application in the food industry
- Ability to read and interpret
documents such as corporate QC Manual policies, plant SOPís,
government regulations, and customer requirement documents, and
ability to write routine reports and correspondence as well as audit
reports is required.†
- Ability to speak effectively before
groups of suppliers, co-packers, customers or employees of the
organization is required.
- Ability to calculate figures
and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume, and
ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry is required.
- Ability to apply common sense
understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or
diagram form, and ability to deal with problems involving several
concrete variables in standardized situations is required.
- A valid driverís license is
- Ability to conduct and
participate in sensory (including taste) evaluations of finished
products and ingredients is required.
- Must be knowledgeable about a
wide range of ingredients and packaging materials as well as of the
specifications for those materials.
- Must be able to use Word
processing, Spreadsheets, Internet software, E-mail, Inventory,
Database, etc. software effectively.
- An understanding of food
storage, transportation, and distribution policies and procedures is
