Ocean Spray has an
Associate Scientist opening in our Sensory Science team within Research
& Development. This position will report into the Sensory team leader
and is based in Lakeville, MA, just outside of Boston.
The Sensory Science
team employs industry-leading methodologies and ensures that the best
research methods and quantitative tools are applied for thoughtful
insight discovery. Our team supports domestic and global consumer
studies, quality, shelf life and employee panels (e.g. descriptive,
discrimination) and works closely with consumer insights, marketing and
manufacturing. Sensory at Ocean Spray isn’t just a capability, it is a

Position
Summary
This position is
responsible for the day-to-day management of the sensory science
activities of Ocean Spray, including coordinating and overseeing the
execution of internal and external sensory research, maintaining sensory
testing resources and capabilities (software, facilities) and partnering
with business teams within R&D and the broader organization to efficiently and accurately address business needs.
Principal
Duties and Responsibilities:
Sensory Science
Thought Leader
- Drive internal initiatives
to promote sensory throughout the organization
- Be proactive and creative
in your day-to-day activities to assist driving the coop forward
- Oversee day-to-day lab
management including inventory, organization, recruitment and
cleanliness
Internal
Sensory Science Project Manager
- Will be required to own the
internal employee panel at Ocean Spray. Must engage employees,
schedule tests and execute on-time.
Other Sensory
Support
- Support QA Activities as
needed
- Run sensory shelf-life
program
- Help support our consumer
panel including sensory tests and recruitment activities
- Be willing to take on
additional responsibilities as required
- Be willing to travel
Knowledge,
Skill, and Ability Requirements:
- B.S. degree in Food
Science, Sensory Science, Psychology or similar field. Advanced
degree and/or 1-2 years of experience a plus.
- Will be expected to quickly
come up to speed on both survey design and analysis tools (e.g. Compusense) as well as be able to learn how to
execute data analyses in statistical software programs.
