Job Description
West Liberty Foods is
currently seeking a Food Technologist. This position works in a very
hands-on environment in creating new products, building product extensions,
and developing products to meet customer's needs. This position is
responsible for the execution of multiple projects under the supervision of
the R&D Project Leaders.
PRIMARY
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Become an integral
part of the existing product development process.
2. Become an integral
part of the ongoing product and package maintenance effort.
3. Provide boots on
the ground involvement within the arena of innovation, cost savings and
problem solving for items #1 and #2.
4. Work closely with
the purchasing and maintenance engineering functions at the corporate and
plant level.
5. Complete projects
as requested by Supervisor, and Senior Management.
Required Skills
Strong background in
the understanding of Standard Operating and Sanitation Procedure and
Sequence of Operations. Proven experience sufficient.
Strong background in operations
and processing including but not restricted to, injection, grinding,
forming, blending, stuffing, sizing, cooking, and slicing in a foods
system.
Experience with
various packaging systems is desirable.
Must be able to
comprehend the scope of a project from conception to launch including the
peripheral areas.
AA/Voc
Tech degree in related foods or related science area with
1-3 years experience are desired; however,
an internal candidate that exhibits clear evidence of capabilities to
handle this position may be considered.
Required Experience
· Bachelor’s degree is
required for this position, preferred degree in Food Science, Meat Science
or Animal Science.
· Computer literate in
Windows applications and MS Office software.
· Possess a valid driver's
license.
· Previous experience
in meat product research and design is preferred.
