QUALITY TECHNICIAN - FOOD PACKAGING - Carol Stream, IL
THE CHALLENGE
Sterling Engineering, Inc. is assisting a premier provider of contract
packaging services to the food and healthcare industries, in seeking a
Quality Assurance professional due to recent growth. The Quality Control
Inspector works with the Production team to ensure quality of raw
materials, the set-up of all jobs are done correctly, jobs running maintain
quality throughout the run and that jobs are acceptable for final release
to shipping.
This position requires interaction with plant operations to ensure products
meet established specifications, investigation and resolution for quality
issues, customer contact, and oversight of sanitation and pest control
programs.
THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY
-Perform inspections of materials, products, and paperwork to verify
compliance with specifications.
-Create and maintain accurate and complete records of work performed.
-Perform internal department audits as assigned.
-Recognize and take action to correct apparent discrepancies found in
product/process inspections, specifications and procedures.
-Initiate action to prevent the reoccurrence of any nonconformities
relating to the product, process and quality system.
-Verify and ensure the documentation of the solutions.
-Verify product stamps for accuracy and completeness.
-Perform lot breakdown reports.
-Perform line clearance inspections.
-Interpret and apply sampling plans.
-Interpret and apply sampling plans.
-Create finished goods product labels.

Requirements:
-BS degree in Food Science or related area of study .
-Two to three years supervisory experience in the
food industry.
-Food industry is highly preferred.
-Experience in the food industry may be recognized in lieu of education.
-Bilingual is a plus.
-Should be detail oriented, organized and capable of multi-tasking.
-Ability to read, speak and write in English.
-Experience with scales and measurements (length and weights), being able
to convert.
