Central
Garden & Pet Company (NASDAQ:CENT), is a leading innovator, marketer

supplies markets. Breeder’s Choice, a division of Central Garden &
Pet, has been manufacturing pet foods for over 60 years, and is searching
for a Food Technologist.
The Food
Technologist would be in charge of implementation of new products through
manufacturing, least cost formulation and supporting R&D and the
production through various projects.

KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and maintain
production formula accuracy
- Monitor raw material nutrient
values to insure proper levels are used in formulation
- Continuously review formulas
to ensure best cost formulation
- Support operations in
equipment testing, selection and use
- Working closely with R&D
and manufacturing to carry out necessary new product testing to insure
product and package integrity
- Continuously improve existing
products
- Provide support for other
teams as requested
- Provide technical expertise
and training as needed
- Trouble shoot with
manufacturing on problems
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/EDUCATION:
- College degree (BS) or
equivalent work experience; Food Science, Chemical Engineer or related
field
- Experience in conducting food
technology and/ or manufacturing projects a plus
- Extrusion/ Baking experience
a plus
- Strong knowledge/ ability to
problem solve
- Proficient in MS Office
–Excel, Powerpoint, Word, MS Project
- Detail oriented, self motivating, self starter,
positive attitude
- Can think quickly and adjust
to new environments and situations
- Can follow through with tasks
with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational,
technical, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
- Be able to work in
manufacturing environment. May need to lift up to 50 lbs
- Strong working knowledge of
food science, pet nutrition, food manufacturing processes, quality
assurance principles and ingredient supply market
- Strong communications skills
and works well with others
WORKING
CONDITIONS:
- Based in Irwindale
- May requires the ability to
travel (up to 15% of the time)
