Management, Sanitation - Management Job Description SAFETY MANAGER – ABBEVILLE, AL Multi-billion
dollar snack manufacturer is seeking a Safety Manager for their growing
Abbeville, Alabama area facility. The position manages all company Food
Safety activities, including in-process quality control and facility GMPs and
sanitation practices. The Safety Manager ensures facility compliance to all
specified requirements, evaluates quality and sanitation practices and
procedures, and monitors program effectiveness for regulatory and audit
compliance purposes. Designs and implements safety processes and
procedures that ensure product compliance to customer specifications. Oversees the evaluation of product
specifications and determines compatibility with process capabilities. Monitors and reports on key food safety
measures throughout the facility. Coordinates with manufacturing to resolve
food safety issues and drive improvement throughout the facility. Trains and mentors key direct reports to
effectively manage the functional areas of responsibility. Designs, implements and monitors cleaning
procedures and programs to ensure desired sanitation results are attained
throughout the facility. Manages plant master cleaning schedule to
ensure frequency of cleaning is adequate. Develops training programs and provides
training for production personnel as required in line with GMPs and
sanitation procedures requirements. Assures compliance to all facility GMPs,
sanitation and quality requirements to meet audit standards and regulatory
compliance. Performs audits to check on effectiveness of the programs and
that the audit trail is intact. Coordinates with other departmental managers
to verify soundness of related compliance programs. Acts as the lead food safety and sanitation
technical resource on assigned special projects. With the plant manager, quality manager and
engineering manager, evaluates new equipment for sanitary design and
necessary corrective action. Job Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Food Safety,
Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, or other related field. 5+ years of progressive food processing
experience (salty snack food experience is a plus), with at least 1- 3 years
in a management capacity within a manufacturing environment under HACCP, USDA
and/or FDA. 5+ years facilitating food safety/quality
related training events. Previous experience with Safe Quality Foods
or SQF Expert Practitioner is a plus. Must have strong organizational, leadership
and communication skills Able to work with cross functional
departments within the organization Good problem solving and corrective
action/resolution skills Strong computer skills with experience
using Word, Excel, Access, Power Point. SAP experience is a plus. In
