A
Research and Development position Lyons Magnus, an international food and
beverage manufacturer headquartered in Fresno, California. The Research Scientist conducts
research and development for Lyons Magnus. The primary duty of the Research
Scientist position is to work in a hands-on environment and to be actively
involved in new and established product strategy, concept development,
product formulation, process development, scale-up, and plant start-ups in
the food industry.
To qualify for our openings, you must meet the
following requirements:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s
degree from an accredited university, in Food Science, related science
or engineering field. A Masters degree is
preferred.
- Two (2) years of experience
in Food Science or a related field is preferred:
- Ingredient functionality
research, including technical knowledge of food processing, process
optimization & its relationship in controlling a final product’s
key attributes
- Identifying novel
applications for food ingredients in order to enhance the formulation
and processing flexibility of food products
- Knowledge of food processing
related to scale up from bench or pilot plant to full scale production
Key
responsibilities include:
- Perform bench-top and pilot
plant experiments under the supervisions of the Director of Research
and Development to support the continued technical innovation at Lyons
Magnus. Innovations will be both process and formulations based for a
variety of foods.
- Understand and assist with
the design and set up of experiments.
- Enter data into spreadsheets.
Help with the preparation of charts and graphs for presentations and
reports.
- Assist with the introduction
of the new technologies into production. The position will require
some work with production and engineering departments.
- The candidate will develop an
in-depth understanding of both the chemical and physical properties of
foods and food ingredients. The candidate will also learn a number of
techniques for measuring these properties. Contact with vendors and
suppliers for latest technology, ingredients and solutions will be
encouraged.
