Job Description
Iowa State University seeks applications for a 9-month, tenure-track
faculty position in Food Science for the Virginia Gladney
Endowed Professorship in Food Science and Human Nutrition at the
Associate/Full Professor level. The successful candidate will be expected
to establish a productive research program (60% effort) with strong
extramural support in food science and technology with an emphasis in
sensory analysis and/or dairy foods preferred. The Virginia Gladney Endowed Professorship will provide continual
research funding for qualified applicants. Qualified applicants with
expertise in dairy foods research will be considered for a leadership role
(10% effort) in and recurring funding from the Midwest Dairy
Foods Research
Center. Additional
multidisciplinary research opportunities exist through the various centers
on campus which include the Center for Crops Utilization Research (CCUR)
and the Nutrition and Wellness Research Center (NWRC). The successful
candidate will teach courses (30% effort) in sensory evaluation, principles
of food science, and/or food ingredients and formulations, supervise
graduate students, and participate in departmental programs including
international activities. Service in department, college and campus
committees and participation in national/international professional
organizations is expected.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology or related
discipline, evidence of research productivity, graduate student mentoring
and ability to teach food science courses at the undergraduate and graduate
levels. Academic experience in teaching, research and service are expected.
Successful applicants will have demonstrated leadership potential.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in sensory analysis research preferred. Experience in dairy food
research preferred.
