Job Description
Duties:
The Quality & Food Safety Auditor is responsible for conducting a
regular set of quality inspections to produce at arrival to our Chiquita
Distribution Center. The purpose of these inspections is to provide
immediate feedback to the Quality and Sales Department, as well as others
in the Supply Chain regarding fruit quality and condition. This will
allow for immediate corrective action where necessary and to avoid
customer issues by making decisions about the product. Candidates will be
responsible for accuracy of statistical data collected and communicated,
and for periodically calibrating with other Quality auditors to ensure
accuracy of inspections.
Primary Responsibilities:
-Check all fruit arrivals and measure the freshness, firmness, size and
count, general appearance and any other pertinent comments regarding
quality and condition. Quality inspector must grade every fruit lot about
quality/condition and determinate process to follow, reject or reroute
the fruit.
-Prepare quality reports to communicate to Chiquita team the
results of audits, keep quality information on inventories, provide
recommendation on actions, and to measure the performance of the growers
and others along the supply chain. At the same time keep fruit
re-inspection updated and in our system.
-Responsible for the Avocado ripening process at the
facility (inbound, ripening process and delivering of the product “right
fruit right customer”). Follow up any process done to the fruit (repack,
sealing, ripening checklist, etc).
-Responsible to make sure all quality or status grades are
updated in the Chiquita system.
-Perform process and food safety audits. Responsible to
enforce/decide on SOPs, policies and procedures through
out the operations when out of specification.
Minimum Experience:
Minimum 3 years in fruit/vegetable quality control experience preferred.
Minimum Education:
HS diploma required, Associate or higher degree desired.
