Job Description

COMPANY: A mid-sized, high growth food products manufacturer that serves a number of different market segments.

LOCATION: Eastern New England

REPORTING: This Food Safety/Quality Manager reports directly to the President. Reporting to this person is a department of 6 quality control personnel.

RESPONSIBILITIES: This Food Safety/Quality Manager is responsible for overall product safety and associated quality control and sanitation procedures. It is expected that this department will review all product manufacturing procedures to ensure that they are in full compliance with all FDA and USDA requirements. This group will also develop and monitor all sanitation activities to ensure that every aspect of plant operation is in full compliance with the sanitation standard operating procedure. Further, this Safety/Quality department must behave in a hands-on, pro-active manner with plant personnel to ensure that all food handling procedures are followed. The company’s extensive product line is a refrigerated/perishable one and this further accentuates the need for strong discipline in all aspects of food handling/product manufacturing. CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates for this position must be mentally mature, hands-on, and enjoy working the floor. This is not a desk bound job. We expect this candidate to be highly involved in plant operations from a safety/quality perspective and to take active leadership in all aspects of food quality control. Moreover, this Manager must ensure that his/her team is technically competent and capable of supporting the mission of this organization. Candidates must have an appropriate degree along with a demonstrated record of hands-on involvement in a mid-sized FDA regulated factory. In addition, candidates must well understand all USDA labeling requirements and also understand all aspects of HACCP. COMPENSATION: A base plus bonus that will pay in the low to mid $100’s.
