Description

Cumberland Gap Provision is seeking a Quality Assurance/Food Safety Manager for its ham and sausage production facility.  The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Program and plan work systematically, organize various jobs under your supervision, assign and delegate specific duties, authority and responsibilities.
  • Simplify and improve methods of performing all jobs and projects; maintain established standards of performance; keep informed and updated on all matters, methods, research or equipment . 
  • Maintain sufficient staff and insure their proper training and development.
  • Properly maintain any physical facilities to provide for a clean and safe work environment in compliance with Federal, State, and local laws or Company policies.
  • Travel as required to investigate product quality claims, vendors or Company related functions.
  • Provide technical assistance to HACCP teams in reference to HACCP plans, SSOP’s, GMP’s and worker practices.  Conduct or supervise the implementation of verification and validation functions associated with HACCP plans and product specifications.
  • Prepare and maintain reports/records in accordance with Company policy.
  • Develop and maintain a liaison with governmental regulatory agencies.

Requirements

B.S. degree in food-related science field required, a M.S. degree is desirable.  Minimum 5 years in the production of food is required.

SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

·        Strong inter-personal and communication skills

·        Ability to advise and teach people in a variety of quality/food safety issues

·        The ability to operate in a food-processing environment

·        Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

·        Capable of establishing and implementing sanitation process controls

·        Basic computer skills
