QA Position provides technical support in optimizing processes and product specifications. Technologist conducts routine evaluations of products and competitor monitoring. Position provides technical support to QA, Operations and Sales and supports new product development initiatives. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Prepares quality control weight charts for all products manufactured on both shifts and oversees their correctness. Directs collection of samples of products from operating lines; checks and records fill volumes and weights on charts. Informs production supervisors of out of tolerance fill volumes, fill weights, or other substandard manufactured products or processes. • Visually inspects labeling, coding and packaging of finished products and supervises the same results from technicians. Informs production supervisors and administrative staff of out of tolerance labeling, incorrect coding or packaging. Informs QA/QC manager and/or QA/QC Supervisor of same. • Conducts technical lab analysis of raw ingredients, products in process, and finished products according to written specifications and quality assurance procedures. • Develops new or enhanced testing procedures. Conducts experimental analysis, evaluates results, and establishes quality assurance or testing guidelines. Evaluates new technical procedures, methods, equipment, or other resources used in R&D, product development, and quality assurance. • Standardizes, calibrates and utilizes scientific equipment such as pH meters, refractometers, moisture balance, weigh scales, viscometers, and microscopes. Supervises the upkeep and accuracy of standardization logs for the calibration of equipment and testing procedures. • Develops and utilizes written analytical procedures, including the manufacture, standardization and use of chemical reagents and solutions. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: -Ability to organize, manage projects, and set priorities to meet project dead lines. -Thoroughness and attention to detail. -Ability to efficiently organize work tasks and time. -Good oral and written communication skills. Bachelors or an advanced degree in food science and technology, biology, microbiology, other food-related scientific discipline or equivalent work experience is preferred.
R&D Food Scientist Scientist in the Foods Research and Development (R&D) group, you will be part of a team developing new products and driving innovation by demonstrating strong scientific principles. Provide technical expertise to formulate, improve and commercialize food products in the various categories. BS/MS or PhD in nutrition, biology, and chemistry, seeking food scientists to use their knowledge to improve methods of processing, canning, freezing, storing, packaging, and distributing food.
