Description
This
position is responsible for managing the food safety and quality function
to ensure compliance to the company's food safety and quality objectives.
·
Oversees food safety/quality portion of supplier
approval process
·
Develops obtains approval for and maintains accurate
detailed product specifications and/or monitors reporting of ingredient
supplier's compliance to ingredient specifications.
·
Provides input into the development of ingredient
specifications to include defining appropriate critical and general
characteristics and supports cross-department efforts to develop and report
Key Performance Indicators and Supplier Scorecard.
·
Obtains approves and verifies bacterial test results
·
Performs on-site food safety/quality evaluations at
supplier locations conducts Supplier Quality Reviews and provides support
for 2nd party reviews.

Continuously maintains knowledge and understanding of
current applicable government regulations and industry practices and
standards
·
Closely monitors at-risk suppliers up to and
including full time on sight support during production of Schwan's products
or raw materials if needed
·
Monitors customer returns and complaints and drives
improvements to reduce returns and complaints by working with Suppliers and
Manufacturing to drive continuous improvement to reduce out of spec
incidence and improve ingredient performance.
·
May provide oversight of the Kosher Certification
process including document review.
·
Manages trains and develops subordinates if applicable .
·
Responsible to conduct yourself and ensure your
subordinates (if applicable) conduct themselves in a manner consistent with
company mission values code of ethics policies and other standards of
conduct.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Years
of Related Experience: 5-7 years related experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
HACCP Certification. Knowledge and understanding of basic quality control
and quality assurance programs and concepts. Working knowledge and basic
understanding of food microbiology. Basic knowledge and understanding of
food regulations (FDA FSIS). Ability to use common Microsoft software programs.
Basic knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) applications. Strong
technical and business writing skills. Ability to effectively present
information to and respond to questions from groups of managers
employees and customers. Solid analytical skills interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated supervisory experience..
