Description Analytical Laboratory Manager-Food

The Laboratory manager will be the Local and Global Lead for Microbiology,
NIR, Analytical Chemistry and Food Safety Development for US Division of a
worldwide specialty food manufacturer, responsible to ensure that the
management of US Laboratory delivers the expected customer support from the
analytical, NIR and Microbiology measurements for our supply and R&D
teams. They will play a key role on the Global Food Safety team and work
within that team to deliver the strategy that will guide new testing methodologies
for both the Chemistry and Microbiology area. This role will also have a
team of approximately 25-35 lab employees who will in conjunction with the
global Analytical and Microbiology teams to carry out studies in specific
areas to deliver enhanced capability, to the business and KC Laboratory.
This the team will also carry out Internal Audits across the network,
develop clean factory design, have owner ship of HACCP direction for the US
business and ensure the NIR capability by working with the Global NIR team
to implement new methods and equipment across the network, without
effecting the day to day support for the Business. This role will also be
responsible for v developing and driving the Laboratory strategies to
deliver the relevant research capabilities to support the R&D function
and for creating a Center of Excellence for Analytical Sciences.
Work with Quality team to implement HACCP in the factories and that
analysis is carried out for all relevant business projects.
Work with the Global Food Safety team to develop food safety and hygiene
programs and new microbiology methodologies.
Work with VA and Raw material development teams to ensure that the required
quality testing is carried out and that any exceptions are dealt with. *
Will be key player on global management team in developing new R&D
strategies and standards
Microbiological Testing: provides strategic direction and leadership for
the Division Microbiological testing program.
Data Transfer: responsibility for ensuring the quality of any technical
information, reported by the KC Laboratory.
Auditing/ QM Testing: Designs and oversees the Auditing of the current
processes and procedures and Monitors results from External Laboratories
ring trials ensuring conformance to standards.
Process Improvements: delivers strategy and framework by which the team can
develop methods of improving the sampling and testing of microbiological
samples to decrease release time, and improve quality control. Carry out
required testing to ensure that these methods are implemented.
Development of Current and New Methodology: drives local and global team to
further develop current scientific and new microbiological methodologies
both internally and with external suppliers and Universities.
Qualifications:
PHD Degree in Analytical Chemistry or Microbiology REQUIRED
5 + years Microbiological Laboratory Management experience
5+ yrs experience with microbiological analyses in food or pharmaceutical
industries ie. ICD ,GCMS ,serology
Ability to write detailed scientific Reports to pull data from LIMS
(Laboratory Information Management System). Demonstrated project management
skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good experimental skills and a familiarity with experimental design and
statistical data analysis.
The ability to work directly with and influence individuals at all levels
and functions.
