General Position Summary:
Performs a wide variety of duties related to the introduction, modification
and maintenance of our many products and systems by working closely with
Product Development, Quality Assurance, Operations, Engineering and
Industrial Performance. Actively participates in our 'Journey to Excellence'
by implementing a Zero Loss commitment, while using our NCE Model, (Nestle
Continuous Excellence), while engaging our talented and dynamic team in, and
outside of the factory.
General Core Tasks (not all inclusive list):
*Coordinates Scale-up of new products and reports results in order to help
develop the most efficient production/packaging procedures and processes.
Creates procedures for production and packaging of new products. After
observing production and packaging of new products, makes any adjustments
necessary in the procedures. Owns the process from start to finish.
*Breaks out formulas and enters information into RMS, SAP, Matrixes and other
systems. Converts production procedures from the formula/processing
guidelines obtained from the Product Development group.
*Solves opportunities and roadblocks using the LEAN Problem Solving Tools of
GSTD (Go See Think Do) and the 5 Step DMAIC
(Define/Measure/Analyze/Improve/Control) Structured Problem Process. Assists
in decisions about product quality, consistency and packability.
While on the manufacturing floor, monitor for GMP compliance and correct
issues as they arise.
*Works in conjunction with Engineering in anticipation of future equipment
requirements. Research the ability of specific equipment to meet those
requirements. Helps conduct tests on new equipment and/or packaging
materials.
*Researches and proposes new raw materials/processing/packaging methods to
meet the specifications, requirements and needs set forth by Product
Development, Manufacturing Services, Operations and Engineering. Works
closely with Product Development on the original recipes/procedures for new
products. Works on raw material rationalization and cost optimization.
*Utilizes hands-on, team approach to learn, understand and develop optimal
equipment processes and procedures in various production and packaging
resources.
*Audits factory operations and identifies process, packaging and sanitation
opportunities. Collect supporting data and documentation for analysis,
propose recommendations and implement improvement.
*Coordinates and performs experimental batches in the manufacturing facility.
For both new and existing products, it is necessary to conduct trial runs and
report on findings. To determine the acceptance of new or alternate raw
materials.
*Makes detailed reports of assessments obtained through testing, scale-ups
and problem productions to determine necessary next steps and for future
reference.
*Assists in the development of new products and/or modifications. Assesses
new Product Development products and production methods in the Pilot Plant to
determine potential manufacturing and packaging problems.
*Conducts freezer testing, viscosity testing and process testing on existing,
as well as experimental products, on an as needed basis.
*Completes project work assigned by the Industrial Performance group. Creates
overviews of current processes/designs. Assists in implementing projects on
the Manufacturing Floor. Tracks factory variances via weekly meetings and
conducts investigations for improvement.
*Participates in sensory evaluation at regularly scheduled and special taste
panels and shelf-life panels.
*Participates in the various factory committees and teams to support our
Continuous Improvement culture.
*Maintains, audits and updates the factory
databases.
*Serves as a back-up for Product Commercialization Coordinator. Creates, edits and routes labels using Nice Label. Enters
new product packaging information into SAP.
Skills and/or Experience Required:
*Bachelors Degree in Food Science, Process
Engineering or related is required.
*Experience in Process Development / Food Engineering with understanding and
experience in food operations and food safety is a plus.
*Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of process automation and heat
process technology a plus.
*Demonstrated excellent oral and written interpersonal communication skills.
*Demonstrated experience interacting, coaching and leading diverse groups of
people in a team environment across multiple departments.
*Demonstrated experience and knowledge in process safety & quality
programs/practices and standards.
*Ability to adapt to change on a variety of issues quickly while leading and
providing guidance with a proactive and positive mindset.
*Possess analytical problem-solving skills, and ability to manage tactical
applications while being able to focus strategically on the larger initiative
at hand.
*Ability to challenge the status quo.
